He will have surgery in the coming weeks.
Representative Dan Kildee of Michigan announced he has been diagnosed with a “serious, but curable” cancer.
In a tweet, he said he was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma. He called it a “serious but curable form of cancer.”
He said, “Thankfully, I caught it very early. With early detection and great doctors, they found a very small tumor on one of my tonsils.” Initially, doctors felt he had a swollen lymph node. “The results,” he said,” turns out were more significant.”
“It’s never easy to hear the words ‘you have cancer,’” he continued. “But I know that so many other families have gone through a cancer diagnosis.”
He will undergo surgery in “the coming weeks” and feels the “prognosis after surgery and treatment is excellent.”
